Winter Clothing
- Since indoor spaces and buses are heated, wearing lightweight clothing layered with a heavy coat is the best option. (The “onion layering” method is recommended.)
- Recommended attire:
- Upper Body: Moisture-wicking undershirt + warm sweater + windproof and waterproof jacket. Thick gloves and a warm hat for the head are also essential. It’s also a good idea to always have lotion and lip balm on hand.
- Lower Body: Base layer pants + outer trousers. When it’s extremely cold, you might consider snow pants, although they might be less comfortable indoors. For shoes, consider waterproof, non-slip snow boots or high-top hiking shoes. Since salt will be spread on the roads in winter to prevent ice formation, your boots may need regular maintenance.
- Local malls offer winter gear. If you want to purchase discounted items, you can also visit larger outlet centers a bit farther away.
Exercise and Fitness
For all sports and fitness activities offered by the school, please refer to Cornell Recreational Services.
- Fitness
- Cornell Fitness Centers (CFC) are located on campus at Teagle Hall, Helen Newman Hall, Noyes, and Appel Commons. You need to register for a CFC Membership; the annual fee is $159. If you only attend group fitness classes like spinning, yoga, or Zumba, the cost is lower. Spouses are required to present their Spouse ID Card when applying.
- There are also fitness centers at Ithaca Mall (Planet Fitness) and Commons (Finger Lakes Fitness Center).
BRB can be reloaded via the online platform GET. For details, please refer to the explanatory webpage.
